The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has called for unity within the party, stressing that grassroots mobilisation will be critical to securing victory in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on Thursday during an engagement with doctors, teachers, lawyers, journalists and other professional groups in the Ashanti Region, he described the interaction as a meaningful opportunity to share ideas and strengthen party cohesion.
Chairman Wontumi expressed appreciation to all participants for attending and contributing their views, noting that their support and encouragement had reinforced his commitment to the party’s future.

He said the engagement underscored the importance of building a united front that brings together professionals, grassroots members and all committed supporters of the NPP ahead of the next general election.
While acknowledging the value of education, including degrees, master’s and PhDs, he cautioned that academic qualifications alone are not enough to win elections.
“Politics is not about titles.
It is about hard work, mobilization, sacrifice, discipline and the ability to connect with the ordinary Ghanaian,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the 2028 elections would not be decided in lecture halls or through theoretical discussions, but through unity, strategy, commitment and effective grassroots organisation.

Chairman Wontumi added that his political journey has been shaped by the grassroots, saying he understands their struggles and the demands of political mobilisation.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders, including professionals, youth, women and grassroots supporters, to rebuild, unite and reposition the NPP for electoral success in 2028.
