The Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, Mr. Azouz Nasri, has arrived in Accra to participate in the Next Steps High-Level Consultative Conference on the implementation of the landmark United Nations Resolution on the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans.

Mr. Nasri was received on arrival at the Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, ahead of the three-day international conference.
The conference, scheduled for June 17 to 19, 2026, is expected to bring together parliamentarians, policymakers, diplomats, scholars, civil society organisations and other stakeholders from across Africa and the diaspora.

The meeting will provide a platform for participants to examine the implications of the landmark UN Resolution for Africa and people of African descent around the world. Discussions will also focus on developing a coordinated global framework to strengthen advocacy efforts and support the effective implementation of the resolution.

The high-level conference underscores growing international efforts to promote historical justice, accountability and meaningful collaboration in addressing the enduring legacy of the transatlantic trafficking of enslaved Africans.
