Prez Mahama Rallies Ghanaians Behind Black Stars Ahead of World Cup Opener Against Panama

President John Dramani Mahama has extended a message of solidarity and encouragement to the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s opening match against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a message to the national team, President Mahama reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Government and people of Ghana as the Black Stars embark on their fifth FIFA World Cup campaign.

He urged the players to wear the national colours with courage, unity and determination, reminding them that millions of Ghanaians are united behind them.

The President also appealed to Ghanaians living in Toronto and across North America to serve as the team’s “12th Man” by turning out in large numbers to cheer the Black Stars throughout the tournament.

To supporters back home, President Mahama gave the assurance that the Government has secured the official television broadcast rights for the tournament, ensuring that Ghanaians across the country will be able to watch every Black Stars match live.

In an inspiring message to the players, the President said: “Play for the flag. Play for the children dreaming of greatness in your footsteps.”

The Black Stars will be aiming for a winning start to their World Cup campaign when they face Panama in their opening Group stage fixture.
