Accra, Ghana – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled a Joint Stakeholders Meeting aimed at strengthening party unity and cohesion ahead of its presidential primaries, with presidential hopefuls expected to formally commit to supporting the eventual winner of the race.
According to an official invitation issued by the party’s Presidential Elections Committee, the meeting will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Asante Hall of the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The meeting is intended to provide a platform for constructive engagement between the party’s presidential candidates and key stakeholders, including former leaders and senior party figures. Participants are expected to offer counsel, guidance, and statesmanlike advice to the aspirants as the internal contest progresses.
As part of the engagement, all presidential candidates will sign a Memorandum of Understanding, committing themselves in good faith to uphold party unity, loyalty, and cohesion. The undertaking will require candidates to support and remain faithful to the eventual winner of the presidential primary, in the supreme interest of the New Patriotic Party.
The invitation, signed by the Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, William Yamoah, was directed to the Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, Dr. George Amoah, who has been invited as a special guest to the meeting.
The unity pact forms part of broader efforts by the NPP to prevent post-primary divisions and ensure a smooth transition towards the 2026 general elections.
Several prominent party leaders have been copied in the invitation, including former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Acting National Chairman, Danquah Smith Buttey, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, members of the Council of Elders, National Council of Patrons, Minority leadership in Parliament, and all presidential candidates.
The Presidential Elections Committee expressed appreciation for the continued contributions of party leaders and stakeholders toward the growth, unity, and democratic development of both the party and the country.
The Joint Stakeholders Meeting is expected to send a strong signal of internal discipline and commitment to unity as the NPP prepares for its next phase of political activity.
