The Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, has undertaken an official tour of the Royal Ghana Gold Refinery as part of ongoing efforts to formalize a refining services agreement with the facility.
The visit forms a key step in advancing the local value addition agenda being championed by the National Democratic Congress under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama.

During the tour, Mr. Gyamfi and his delegation were taken through the refinery’s operational processes, capacity, and readiness to support Ghana’s gold value chain. The engagement also provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss potential areas of collaboration, particularly in refining locally mined gold to international standards.
Speaking after the visit, Mr. Gyamfi emphasized the importance of strengthening domestic refining capacity as a strategic move to retain more value within the country. He noted that partnerships with institutions such as the Royal Ghana Gold Refinery are essential in reducing reliance on external markets for gold processing.

The anticipated agreement is expected to boost Ghana’s efforts in maximizing revenue from its gold resources while promoting industrial growth and job creation. It also aligns with broader national objectives to position Ghana as a hub for gold refining and value addition in the region.
The tour marks a significant milestone in the ongoing push to transform Ghana’s natural resource sector through sustainable and locally driven initiatives.
