The Director-General of the National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, has lauded National Service Personnel (NSPs) for their discipline and commitment following the successful completion of a pilot military orientation programme at Michelle Camp.

Speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the passing-out ceremony on Tuesday, March 25, Ms. Seddoh described the initiative as a critical step toward shaping a more disciplined, resilient, and service-driven workforce.

The two-week programme, organised by the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), formed part of efforts to instill a sense of national duty among young graduates undertaking their mandatory national service.

The ceremony was attended by the Managing Director of TDC, Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, as well as staff of the corporation and other invited guests. Participants put up a display of coordinated drills and endurance exercises, demonstrating the physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork acquired during the training.

Ms. Seddoh commended the personnel for their dedication and urged them to carry forward the values of loyalty, integrity, and patriotism into their various assignments across the country.

She emphasised that beyond academic qualifications, the nation requires service personnel who are principled, adaptable, and committed to national development.

“This programme is not just about drills or physical training; it is about building character, strengthening resolve, and preparing you to serve Ghana with diligence and integrity,” she noted.

She further revealed that the Authority is preparing to scale up the initiative into a nationwide programme.

According to her, a National Basic Military Training Programme for all National Service Personnel is expected to commence between June and July this year, following the success of the pilot phase at Michelle Camp.

The NSA Director-General explained that the broader objective is to enhance professionalism, discipline, and readiness among service personnel, while equipping them with practical life skills that will be beneficial beyond their service year.

The pilot programme, she added, has provided valuable insights that will guide the nationwide rollout, ensuring that future batches of NSPs receive structured training that aligns with national development goals.

The passing-out ceremony marked not only the end of the training exercise but also the beginning of a renewed approach to national service one that places greater emphasis on discipline, responsibility, and patriotism among Ghana’s youth.
