Since assuming office as Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has consistently demonstrated a leadership style that is both hands-on and people-focused. His commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement has distinguished him as a Finance Minister who listens, acts, and leads with purpose.
Ahead of the 2026 Budget Presentation scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2025, Dr Forson visited Takoradi to inspect the abandoned Market Circle project. The visit highlighted his approach of understanding challenges firsthand. He spoke with traders and residents to learn directly about their concerns. Standing at the heart of the city, he assured the public that the contractor would return early next year, once the ongoing debt restructuring is completed. This assurance brought renewed hope to thousands of traders and families, demonstrating that Dr Forson values direct engagement and accountability.

This is not the first time he has taken a hands-on approach. Ahead of the 2025 Budget, Dr Forson visited Makola Market in Accra, interacting with traders, wholesalers, and market women to better understand their challenges. He also conducted nationwide consultations and a virtual engagement with over 60,000 young people on X, listening carefully to their feedback and incorporating many of their suggestions into the budget.
These actions reflect Dr Forson’s people-first philosophy and his belief that sound economic policy begins with listening to the people it serves. Under his leadership, the Ministry of Finance has strengthened fiscal discipline while prioritizing social protection and development-focused spending.
As Ghana anticipates the 2026 Budget, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson continues to be commended for his humility, proactive leadership, and dedication to national progress. His approach inspires confidence that Ghana’s economy is on a path toward stability, inclusivity, and sustainable growth.
