A new national governance tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that a majority of Ghanaians believe the country is heading in the right direction under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

The report, titled National Tracking Poll: Governance and Performance – Part One, was conducted between December 1 and 21, 2025, as part of an ongoing assessment of public opinion on governance and leadership. The survey covered 13,495 respondents across 83 constituencies, using a mix of web-based, telephone and face-to-face interviews. It was conducted at a 99 percent confidence level, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.1 percent.

The findings were released in Accra on December 29 by the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah.

According to the poll, 66 percent of respondents say Ghana is moving in the right direction, while 24 percent believe the country is on the wrong path. Ten percent said they were undecided. Respondents across all 16 regions reportedly shared the view that the country’s overall direction is positive.

On presidential performance, President Mahama recorded an approval rating of 67 percent, unchanged from the previous quarter. Disapproval stood at 24 percent. The poll suggests that his support goes beyond the traditional base of the governing party, with positive ratings recorded even in some opposition-leaning areas.

However, the results also point to a clear partisan divide. Among supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress, 93 percent approved of the President’s performance. Within the opposition New Patriotic Party, 28 percent expressed approval, while 61 percent disapproved. Floating voters showed strong support, with 69 percent approving of President Mahama’s leadership.

Overall, the poll suggests sustained public confidence in the Mahama administration and broad approval of the country’s current direction, despite sharp differences along party lines.
