The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested 27 people for suspected drug offences during a special Christmas security operation across the region.

The arrests took place in Salaga, Damongo, Buipe and Bole as part of increased police patrols and crime-prevention activities during the festive season.

In a statement shared on its official Facebook page on December 26, the Ghana Police Service said the suspects, including some women, were found with various narcotic substances and dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.
The police said all 27 suspects are currently in custody and are assisting with investigations.
