Parliament is continuing to open its doors to a wide range of visitors as part of the “My Parliament Experience” initiative, a programme designed to help citizens better understand the work of the legislature.

In recent days, the House has welcomed students, teachers, faith-based groups and community organisations who are eager to learn more about Ghana’s parliamentary system. Visitors included groups from St. Thomas R/C JHS, Jei-River International School, Ashesi University, Zabzugu SHS, Odoben TI Ahmadiyya, and Sabuonum Nana Ampadu JHS.

During their visit, participants were taken through the roles and functions of Parliament, the stages of lawmaking, and the responsibilities of Members of Parliament. They also observed proceedings from the Public Gallery, giving them a firsthand look at debates, motions, and decision-making processes.

Some of the groups had the chance to interact directly with MPs, asking questions about leadership, representation, and national development. Many of the students described the experience as inspiring and eye-opening.

The “My Parliament Experience” programme is part of Parliament’s effort to make the institution more accessible and citizen-focused. By giving young people and community groups an inside view of parliamentary work, the initiative aims to promote civic awareness and encourage active participation in Ghana’s democracy.

Officials say the programme will continue to expand as more schools and organisations express interest in taking part.
