A new national tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics shows that most Ghanaians believe their standard of living has improved over the past year, pointing to growing public optimism following the rollout of the 2026 national budget.

According to the survey released on Monday, December 29, 56 percent of respondents said their living conditions are better than they were a year ago. Another 27 percent said things have remained the same, while 12 percent reported a decline. Five percent expressed no opinion.

Looking ahead, confidence appears even stronger. Seven out of ten voters, representing 70 percent, believe their standard of living will improve further in 2026. Only 18 percent said they are pessimistic about the future.

Public reaction to the 2026 budget also leaned positive. Nearly two-thirds of respondents, 66 percent, said they are satisfied with the budget presented by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson. Eighteen percent expressed dissatisfaction, while 16 percent remained neutral.

On governance issues, the poll suggests a relatively favorable public mood. About 56 percent of respondents said corruption in the country has improved, and 60 percent believe the government is doing enough to combat it.

Views on the fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, were more mixed but still leaned positive. Forty-seven percent of respondents said the situation has not worsened under the Mahama administration. This view was shared by 43 percent of respondents living in mining regions.

Overall, the findings indicate that recent economic policies, alongside governance and anti-corruption efforts, are resonating with a majority of Ghanaians and strengthening confidence in the country’s direction.
