The Africa Centre for Parliamentary Engagement and Accountability (ACEPA), in collaboration with the Parliament of Ghana, will hold a two-day Regional Forum on Gender-Responsive Lawmaking and Citizen Engagement from November 26–27, 2025, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The forum is organised under the Inclusive Legislatures for Gender Responsive Policies (ILGRP) project, funded by Global Affairs Canada. It will bring together parliamentarians, parliamentary staff, civil society organisations and development partners from Ghana, Kenya and Togo.
Held under the theme, “Parliament-CSO-Citizen Collaboration on Gender-Responsive Lawmaking: Experiences and Pathways from Ghana, Kenya and Togo,” the event aims to advance gender equality and inclusion in legislative work by sharing tools, experiences and lessons from the three participating countries.
Over the two days, participants will take part in panel discussions and presentations on strengthening gender-responsive lawmaking, highlighting practical approaches that promote inclusivity, improving collaboration between parliaments, CSOs and citizens, and examining how digital tools can support public participation in legislative processes.
The forum will be opened by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin and will include remarks from the Canadian High Commission in Ghana, a key partner in the initiative.
The gathering is expected to produce practical strategies to help African parliaments develop laws and policies that reflect the needs and experiences of women and marginalised groups, supporting broader efforts to promote inclusive governance across the continent.
