The Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central, Hon. John Kwame Adu Jack, has called for strict adherence to institutional rules and regulations in senior high schools across the country to promote discipline among students.
His remarks come in response to the directive issued by the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, instructing the leadership and management of various secondary educational institutions to enforce discipline. The directive includes ensuring that students maintain short, neat hair and discourages any form of long hair.
Hon. Adu Jack expressed firm support for the Minister’s position, describing it as a bold and necessary move to restore discipline and order in schools. He emphasized that the success of the education system depends on respect for institutional authority and compliance with established rules.
He noted that the ongoing debate about students’ hairstyles should not overshadow the primary goal of education, which is to nurture discipline, focus, and responsibility among young people. According to him, institutions play a key role in shaping students’ attitudes and behaviors, and enforcing such standards contributes to the holistic development of the Ghanaian student.
“Life involves both Nature and Nurture, and schools are using the Nurture aspect to prepare students for disciplined futures,” the Dormaa Central MP stated.
