The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to international cooperation in the minerals sector during Ghana’s participation in this year’s Future Minerals Forum (FMF) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Speaking at the forum, Alhaji Sulemana encouraged participating countries to deepen collaboration and strategic partnerships to fully leverage support from multinational institutions, particularly the World Bank, which he disclosed has already expressed interest in supporting the global minerals industry. He stressed that coordinated action among mineral-producing countries is essential to attract sustainable investment and strengthen the sector’s contribution to national development.

The Deputy Minister assured fellow participants of Ghana’s readiness to work with international partners to ensure that the country’s mineral resources are harnessed responsibly and translated into tangible economic growth and long-term prosperity. He noted that Ghana remains open to partnerships that promote value addition, responsible mining practices, and institutional strengthening across the minerals value chain.

Alhaji Sulemana described the week-long forum as productive, noting that it provided an important platform for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and engagement between governments, industry leaders, development partners, and investors on emerging issues in the global minerals landscape.

He led the Ghanaian delegation to the forum, accompanied by Mr. Isaac Tandoh, CEO Of Minerals Commission and some officials from the Minerals Commission. Ghana’s participation formed part of broader efforts to position the country as a reliable partner in the global minerals industry while aligning its resources with sustainable development objectives.

Launched in 2022, the Future Minerals Forum has rapidly become a leading global platform where governments, industry leaders, investors, academics, and experts convene to shape the future of mineral development, responsible supply chains, and investment flows. It is convened annually in Riyadh under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and organized by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. Over successive editions, the FMF has expanded in scale and influence, promoting dialogue and partnerships that extend across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and beyond.

This year’s edition, held from January 13–15, 2026, was conducted under the theme “Dawn of a Global Cause” a call to collective action recognizing the critical role minerals play not just in industry but in global development, prosperity, and shared progress. The theme underscores the need for collaborative solutions to challenges in mineral supply chains, sustainable resource governance, technology and innovation, and inclusive economic growth.

The forum’s agenda included high-level policy dialogue, investment and innovation sessions, and ministerial roundtables designed to accelerate responsible mineral development and unlock new economic opportunities across supplier and customer nations.
