Concerned residents and stakeholders of Lower West Akim in the Easter Region of Ghana have condemned what they describe as acts of intimidation, threats and unlawful conduct allegedly being carried out by some sub-chiefs and their associates in Quashikrom and nearby communities.

According to a press statement signed by Hajia Mariam Dzifa Mohammed on behalf of the concerned residents and stakeholders, the alleged incidents have created fear, panic and insecurity among residents within the area.

The statement expressed concern that the situation is generating tension and could undermine the peace and stability that communities in Lower West Akim have maintained over the years.

“The actions continue to create fear and anxiety among innocent residents and threaten the harmony and development of the area,” the statement said.

The group maintained that no individual or group has the right to intimidate citizens, threaten lives or disrupt peaceful coexistence within the community.

They therefore appealed to state security agencies, traditional authorities, opinion leaders and other relevant stakeholders to intervene swiftly to ensure that law and order are maintained.

The residents further called for urgent action to prevent the situation from escalating and to protect lives and property in the affected communities.

The statement stressed that Lower West Akim deserves peace, unity and development rather than fear and division.

Residents were also urged to remain calm, law-abiding and vigilant while lawful steps are taken to address the concerns raised.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice, accountability and the protection of all residents, regardless of their background or social status.
