The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has outlined a series of digital learning initiatives aimed at expanding access to quality education for students in underserved communities across Ghana.

Responding to questions on the floor of Parliament, the Minister said the Ministry of Education, through the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), is scaling up digital learning opportunities using the iBox platform, interactive educational technologies, and offline learning solutions for schools without internet connectivity.

According to Mr Iddrisu, the iBox platform is currently benefiting more than 120,000 students across 240 Senior High Schools nationwide. He added that the Ministry is implementing additional interventions to improve digital literacy, enhance teaching and learning, and better prepare students for national examinations.

The Minister said the government’s digital education strategy is designed to ensure that students, irrespective of their geographical location or access to internet services, have equal opportunities to benefit from quality educational resources.

He noted that the initiatives form part of the government’s broader commitment to bridging the digital divide, strengthening the country’s education system, and equipping learners with the digital skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The Ministry expects the expanded digital learning programme to improve learning outcomes, promote equity in education, and support the delivery of inclusive and technology-enabled teaching across the country.
