The Wenchi Constituency Communications Bureau led by Seth Kobins has defended the recent donation of hospital beds to the Subinso No. 2 Health Centre by the Member of Parliament for Wenchi, Hon. Alhaji Seidu Haruna, describing the intervention as timely and necessary.

In a press statement, the Bureau said the MP, who has represented the constituency since 2021, has remained committed to improving healthcare delivery and advancing development across the area.

According to the statement, Hon. Seidu Haruna has consistently invested in strengthening health infrastructure through both personal initiative and the prudent use of statutory funds. The Bureau maintained that his leadership has been marked by transparency, accountability, and practical responses to identified gaps within the health sector.

Key Health Interventions

The statement outlined several interventions undertaken by the MP since assuming office, including:

  • Donation of 10 brand-new hospital beds to the Zongo CHPS Compound.
  • Provision of a new refrigerator and essential medical supplies to the same facility.
  • Renovation and furnishing of the Municipal Health Director’s office to enhance administrative efficiency.
  • Construction and furnishing of male, female, and children’s wards at the Buoku Health Centre.
  • Donation of three brand-new hospital beds to the Ayibe Health Centre.
  • Support for the renewal of more than 5,000 NHIS memberships for constituents.
  • Recent donation of hospital beds to Subinso No. 2 Health Centre.

The Bureau addressed concerns surrounding the donation of slightly used hospital beds to Subinso No. 2, stating that the facility lacked basic beds to admit patients, despite earlier claims that it had been upgraded to a polyclinic under former MP George Gyan-Baffour.

It described the intervention as a practical response to an urgent need, stressing that the donation was intended to ensure immediate patient care while longer-term upgrades are pursued.

Politics or Development?

The Communications Bureau also accused sections of the opposition of attempting to politicize the donation. It insisted that the focus of the MP and the Municipal Chief Executive remains on development rather than political distractions.

“The improvements in our health facilities are visible, measurable, and directly beneficial to the people of Wenchi,” the statement said.

The Bureau reaffirmed its support for both the MP and the Municipal Chief Executive, expressing confidence in their leadership and commitment to steady progress in healthcare and other sectors within the constituency.

It further called for unity in advancing development efforts, stating that collective commitment remains essential to making Wenchi a better place for all residents.
