The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured the Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, of its full backing as he contests the court ruling that annulled his election.
At a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, December 9, the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, said the NPP remains united behind the embattled MP. He noted that Nyindam’s legal battle is a shared responsibility for the party.
“The NPP stands as one solid rock behind the MP for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam. His fight is our fight. His cause is the cause of every NPP member,” he said. “Do not lose heart. The party has not abandoned you. We will walk every step of this legal journey with you and challenge every decision in court when necessary.”
Nyindam, for his part, remains hopeful as the case moves through the appeal process. Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, he said he is placing his trust in the judicial system, with the Supreme Court scheduled to hear the matter on December 16.
“We are still at the Court of Appeal, and we are waiting. The Supreme Court has given us a date. From here, it is for the lawyers to handle. Whatever direction it takes, I believe in God and in destiny,” he said.

His legal troubles stem from a ruling by the Tamale High Court, which nullified his parliamentary victory and ordered a fresh election in the Kpandai Constituency within 30 days. Following the decision, Parliament formally informed the Electoral Commission of a vacancy.
In a letter dated December 4, 2025, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, notified EC Chairperson Jean Mensa that the judgment delivered on November 24, 2025, requires a new election in Kpandai. The Clerk of Parliament was listed as the fourth respondent in the suit, filed under reference number NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25.
The upcoming ruling from the Supreme Court is expected to determine the next steps in the unfolding political and legal tussle.
