President John Dramani Mahama has praised Ghana’s partnership with the United Arab Emirates, describing it as a strong model for the next generation of global alliances built on practical outcomes and mutual benefit.
He said modern international partnerships must move beyond symbolism and deliver measurable results for participating countries through trade, innovation, and shared development goals.
Speaking at the World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai, President Mahama noted that cooperation between Ghana and the UAE, along with broader Africa–Gulf engagements, is becoming a key pillar in the emerging global order, driven by economic transformation, shared responsibility, and climate action.
The President revealed that Ghana’s newly introduced Goldbod initiative has generated more than 10 billion dollars in less than a year. He cited this as proof that well designed international cooperation frameworks can produce tangible economic gains when backed by clear strategy and accountability.
According to him, global alliances that were once shaped mainly by geopolitical rivalry and military interests must now be redefined to address cross border challenges such as climate change, food and energy insecurity, weak supply chains, and rising inequality.
He told participants that future alliances should be grounded in shared responsibility and a common global destiny rather than narrow strategic interests.
President Mahama added that the creation of Goldbod reflects Ghana’s deliberate push toward greater sovereignty and value addition in the management of its natural resources, ensuring that more benefits remain within the country and the continent.
