The palace of the Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Council at Abene was attacked at dawn on Monday, November 17, 2025, by armed men reportedly dressed in police uniforms and claiming to be officers from National Security.
The incident, which happened around 4 a.m., sent shockwaves through the palace and the surrounding community as residents awoke to the sound of repeated gunshots.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers—described as heavily armed and operating with precision—stormed the palace and allegedly abducted the Kwahuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua, who was inside at the time. Their coordinated manner raised suspicion that they were impersonating trained security personnel.
The gunmen also made away with the official Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to the Kwahuhene. Tracking data obtained by palace authorities shows the vehicle moving toward Accra, although the exact location is being kept confidential for security reasons.
The motive behind the attack and the alleged kidnapping remains unknown, and security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
