Outspoken Ghanaian lawyer Martin Kpebu, has been released by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after being detained on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Kpebu was apprehended following a reported confrontation with police officers at the entrance of the OSP premises, where he had gone to meet investigators.
The clash led to his detention, stalling plans by the OSP to question him over allegations he recently levelled against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
He was later granted bail with conditions that required him to present a landed property as surety. However, by the time his legal team returned to finalise the documentation, he was said to be unavailable – an issue that created further confusion around the day’s events.
The private legal practitioner has been a consistent critic of the Special Prosecutor, accusing the office of procedural shortcomings and the mishandling of sensitive investigations.
Martin Kpebu has insisted that he will only cooperate with investigators if an independent panel is empanelled to handle his matter, arguing that the current arrangement undermines fairness.
