The Ministry of Health has directed all health facilities across the country to strengthen security measures following the reported theft of a baby at the Mamprobi Polyclinic.
In a statement issued on February 18, 2026, the Ministry said the directive was prompted by the incident, which has raised public concerns about safety and security within health institutions.
The Ministry commended the swift response of the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and other stakeholders involved in addressing the situation. It also praised the whistleblower whose alert brought attention to the case.
According to the statement, the Minister for Health has instructed the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service to ensure the immediate enforcement of stricter day and night security protocols at all health facilities nationwide.
Facility administrators have further been directed to urgently review and reinforce their internal security systems to prevent similar incidents.
The Ministry also reiterated an earlier government directive requiring all health facilities to install and maintain functional CCTV surveillance systems to enhance monitoring, improve accountability, and strengthen patient safety.
While investigations into the incident at the Mamprobi Polyclinic are ongoing, the Ministry assured the public of the government’s commitment to protecting patients and ensuring accountability within the health sector.
The statement, signed by Isaac Ofei Baah, Head of the Public Relations Unit at the Ministry of Health, called for calm as authorities continue to handle the matter.
