Bibiani GoldStars have parted ways with head coach Frimpong Manso just days after their CAF Champions League debut, citing a clash between the coach’s vision and the club’s long-term business strategy.

The decision followed the team’s 2-0 home defeat to Algeria’s JS Kabylie at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday in the first leg of their preliminary round tie. Manso, who guided GoldStars to their first-ever league title in May, was unexpectedly dismissed despite his recent achievements.

Public Relations Officer Samuel Kwagyire explained that management felt the coach’s methods did not align with the club’s strategic roadmap.

“It has to do with management decision. They feel that the future business plan of the team doesn’t meet the plans of coach Frimpong Manso, and for that reason, they have to say thank you to him,” Kwagyire told Luv FM.

He added that while the club acknowledges Manso’s contribution, the divergence in vision made it impossible to continue the partnership.

Manso’s assistant, Nana Yaw Amankwah, has been tasked with leading the team in the decisive return leg against JS Kabylie in Algeria on Sunday.
