The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, Samuel Adongo, has raised concerns about low community participation in the National Sanitation Day exercise, attributing the challenge partly to the growing number of funerals held on the same weekends.

He explained that the monthly exercise, observed at the end of every month, often clashes with funeral activities, which tend to draw large crowds and reduce the number of residents available to take part in the cleanup.

Mr. Adongo made the remarks while speaking to the media during the handing over of an ultra-modern female toilet facility at Effiduase Adumasa. The facility was donated by Mrs. Liselotte Waldheim-Natural, President of the Vienna International Women’s Group.

The MCE expressed his commitment to improving sanitation standards across the municipality, noting that notable progress has been recorded since he assumed office. He, however, acknowledged that the clash between funerals and sanitation exercises remains a setback.
Despite this, he assured residents that the Assembly is determined to make New Juaben North one of the cleanest municipalities in the country.

The Queen Mother of the Effiduase Traditional Area, Nana Asantewaa Gyankoma II, praised the newly commissioned toilet facility, describing it as a symbol of the community’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of women and girls. She said the facility will offer a clean and dignified space, contributing to improved health, education and economic outcomes.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the donor, Phyllis Adomako said Mrs. Waldheim-Natural remains committed to supporting initiatives that advance the dignity and welfare of women and communities.
