Residents of Twifo Praso were met with a disturbing discovery on Tuesday morning when a man believed to be in his 50s was found dead at the Assin Fosu Station.
The deceased, known locally as “Alah Foose,” is said to have previously served with the task force of the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Assembly. Authorities have not yet confirmed his official identity.
Witnesses at the station reported that he had been drinking heavily the night before and decided to sleep at the station. Early in the morning, attendants attempted to wake him but found him unresponsive. All efforts to revive him failed, and he was pronounced dead on the spot.
The cause of death remains unclear, though police say there is no immediate evidence of foul play. Residents noted that the body remained at the station for nearly six hours before officers arrived, heightening concerns within the community.
Police have since cordoned off the scene and transported the body for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
