Five Arrested After Civilian Worker at Burma Camp Found Dead

Police in the Eastern Region have arrested five people in connection with the suspected murder of a civilian employee of the Ghana Armed Forces, identified as Kwadwo Yeboah. One other suspect is still being pursued.

The victim, who worked at Burma Camp, was reported missing on November 16 after he left his community, Ahyia Yeboah near Sokode-Juaso in the Abuakwa North Municipality, to retrieve a mobile phone at Foforfo. After days of searching, a local rescue team found his remains in the Bediasi River on November 25.

The discovery shocked residents and sparked violent reactions, including the burning of three houses. Firefighters moved in quickly to prevent further damage.

A police pathologist examined the body and confirmed it had been badly dismembered and partially decomposed. Due to the condition of the remains and for public health reasons, the body was released to the family for immediate burial.

The Eastern Regional Police Command says investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive behind the killing and ensure everyone involved faces justice.

Residents are urging police to speed up the probe and restore a sense of security to the community.
