Fire Sweeps Through Tudu Structures, GNFS Brings Blaze Under Control

A fire that gutted several makeshift commercial and residential structures near SoccerBet at Tudu in Accra has been brought under control by the Ghana National Fire Service.

The blaze, which broke out on Wednesday, triggered a swift response from the Service, with four fire engines deployed from the Accra City, Ministries, and Industrial Area fire stations, as well as the GNFS National Headquarters. Firefighters battled the flames for hours and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

Officials confirmed that no injuries were recorded.

After containing the fire, crews moved in to carry out overhauling operations to douse remaining hotspots and secure the area fully.

In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service described the incident as an early warning ahead of an expected active fire season in 2026. The Service urged the public to stay alert and strictly adhere to basic fire safety measures.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities say further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
