Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia remains the leading contender in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries scheduled for January 2026, a new survey by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed.

The poll, conducted from November 17 to 21 among 3,500 delegates across all 16 regions, indicates a slight dip in support for both Dr Bawumia and Mr Kennedy Agyapong compared to October. However, the former Vice President continues to hold a commanding lead.

Under the likely voters’ model, Dr Bawumia secured 42.7 per cent, followed by Mr Agyapong with 17.7 per cent. Food and Agriculture Minister Dr Bryan Acheampong polled 4.6 per cent, while Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong each recorded 0.3 per cent. About 14.9 per cent of delegates declined to disclose their preference, with 19.3 per cent still undecided.

Among committed voters, Dr Bawumia widened his lead to 63.3 per cent, with Mr Agyapong at 28.6 per cent and Dr Acheampong at 6.9 per cent.

The survey shows Dr Bawumia ahead in 13 regions, while Mr Agyapong leads only in the Volta Region. The Central Region remains statistically too close to call.

Global InfoAnalytics also reports shifts in delegate loyalty since the 2023 primaries. Approximately 11 per cent of delegates who previously backed Mr Agyapong now support Dr Bawumia, while Dr Acheampong has drawn four per cent of Dr Bawumia’s former supporters and five per cent of Mr Agyapong’s.

On favourability, Dr Bawumia scored 92 per cent, a one-point increase from the previous month. The other aspirants recorded marginal declines. Additionally, 59 per cent of delegates believe offering a candidate a second chance could improve the party’s outlook ahead of the primaries.

The research firm stated that the survey was conducted at a 99 per cent confidence level with a margin of error of ±2.12 per cent, underscoring the robustness of its findings.
