Six people have been confirmed dead following a fatal road accident involving a trailer loaded with cement and a commercial passenger bus on the Offinso–Abofuor highway in the Ashanti Region.
The crash occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, along the Sompraso–Awisam stretch of the road.
Several other passengers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Offinso-Maase for emergency treatment.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the same facility, pending identification and further arrangements by their families.
Police have since launched investigations to determine the cause of the accident, while traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted during rescue and recovery operations.
Authorities have once again urged motorists to observe road safety regulations, especially during early morning travel when visibility and alertness may be reduced.
