Afenyo-Markin Commissions Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre in Winneba
The Member of Parliament for Effutu and Minority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament, Osahene Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has commissioned the Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre at Ateitu-Winneba in the Central Region.
The new facility delivers on Afenyo-Markin’s commitment to improve access to quality healthcare in the Effutu Constituency. It is fitted with modern equipment, including a haematology analyser, Olympus unit, delivery beds, 50-litre oxygen cylinders, and a microscope. The centre also features fully furnished consulting rooms, a pharmacy, reliable power and water supply, and infrastructure designed to support persons with disabilities.
Afenyo-Markin named the facility in honour of Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe, acknowledging his decades of service to the people of Winneba, especially his role in saving the lives of women and children.
“Growing up in Winneba, everyone knows Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe’s contribution to this community,” he said. He encouraged public servants and political leaders to use their positions to make meaningful contributions to society, adding that he hopes Effutu’s transformation will continue for generations.
Dr. Paullette Brown, Effutu Municipal Health Director, commended the MP for his continued investment in the constituency’s healthcare infrastructure. She urged residents to make full use of the facility, noting features such as its air-conditioned labour ward and the deployment of trained nurses by the Ghana Health Service.
According to her, the centre will ease pressure on the Trauma and Municipal hospitals by bringing essential services closer to residents. She expressed appreciation for Afenyo-Markin’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Effutu.
The Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre is expected to play a significant role in expanding healthcare access and supporting community wellbeing.
