The Faculty of Computing and Data Sciences at Knutsford University, in collaboration with Appsmobile Solutions, has organised a one-day cybersecurity seminar dubbed CYBERSPACE 26 to equip students with knowledge and practical skills to identify and address cyber threats in an increasingly technology-driven world.
The programme aimed to raise awareness of the cybersecurity risks associated with internet use, social media engagement and other digital platforms, while encouraging students to adopt safer and more responsible online practices.
The seminar comes amid growing concerns about cybercrime, online fraud, identity theft, phishing attacks and the unauthorised use of personal information, particularly as young people increasingly depend on digital technologies for education, communication and social interaction.

Through the initiative, students were sensitised to the importance of protecting their personal information, securing their digital accounts and recognising suspicious online activities that could expose them to cyberattacks.
The programme also sought to improve participants’ understanding of how cybercriminals exploit vulnerabilities in digital platforms and the practical steps individuals can take to minimise their exposure to online threats.
The collaboration between the university’s Faculty of Computing and Data Sciences and Appsmobile Solutions highlights the importance of partnerships between academic institutions and technology-sector organisations in promoting cybersecurity education and digital literacy.

As Ghana continues to embrace digital transformation, cybersecurity awareness has become increasingly important, particularly among students and young people who use online platforms for learning, business and social networking.
CYBERSPACE 26 is expected to contribute to efforts to build a more informed generation of technology users who can recognise cyber risks, protect themselves online and contribute to a safer digital environment.
The initiative further underscores the need for sustained cybersecurity education and collaboration among universities, technology companies, government agencies and other stakeholders to address emerging threats in cyberspace.
