The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has commended Focus Electronic Technology Company Limited for its contribution to job creation, workers’ welfare and the production of quality Made-in-Ghana products.
The Minister made the commendation on Monday, August 10, 2026, when she visited the company to inspect its operations and engage with management and workers.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare expressed satisfaction with the working environment at the factory, particularly the conditions provided for its predominantly female workforce.
She described the facility as clean, airy and conducive for work, and commended management for providing hostel accommodation and lunch for workers, as well as ensuring that employees do not bear the cost of electricity and water bills.
“I like it when I go to industry and I see that women are sitting down and working because then immediately it comes to my mind that you can be pregnant and still work here,” the Minister said.
She explained that workplaces must be designed to enable women to work comfortably and with dignity, stressing the importance of creating supportive working conditions for female employees.
The Minister also commended Focus Electronic for employing more than 500 people, describing the achievement as significant and urging management to consider expanding its operations to create additional employment opportunities.
According to her, the company has operated for some time and established a good market for its products, making expansion an important opportunity for further growth.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare further stressed the need for local manufacturers to maintain high standards in the production of Made-in-Ghana goods to strengthen consumer confidence and promote the competitiveness of Ghanaian products.
Minister’s Clinic
The Minister also highlighted the importance of the Minister’s Clinic 2026, an initiative that provides a platform for industries to present challenges affecting their operations directly to the Ministry.
She explained that concerns raised by industries through the initiative enable the Ministry to bring relevant stakeholders together to find practical solutions.
One of the challenges addressed during the visit was an electricity supply problem affecting Focus Electronic.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare commended the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for its prompt response after the Ministry called for its intervention.
She said ECG subsequently engaged with the company to address the problem, resulting in its immediate resolution.
«“I want to thank ECG for the prompt response to our call for them to be here. From what I have gathered in respect of electricity, they are working closely with the factory and that is the way to go,” she said.»
The Minister said the swift resolution of the electricity challenge demonstrated the importance of collaboration between government institutions and the private sector in addressing operational difficulties confronting local industries.
She commended the owner and management of Focus Electronic and urged them to make expansion the next major step, particularly given the market opportunities available to the company.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare assured the company of the Ministry’s continued support and reiterated the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for local businesses to grow, create jobs and contribute to Ghana’s industrial development.
Management Commends Ministry
The Managing Director of Focus Electronic Technology Company Limited, Mr. Andy, expressed appreciation to the Minister for visiting the factory and taking time to engage directly with management and workers.
«“We are so happy and honoured to receive our Hon. Minister. We are very happy that we can meet her in our factory and see what we are doing,” he said.»
He thanked the Ministry and other key stakeholders for their support and assured them that the company would continue to contribute to Ghana’s industrial development.
The visit forms part of the Ministry’s broader engagement with local industries to understand their operational challenges, promote domestic manufacturing and support businesses that contribute to employment creation and economic growth.
