Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng, Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has praised the Greater Accra Regional Minister, NADMO, and the NDC government for taking decisive steps to enforce town planning regulations, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing national development over political considerations.

In a statement, Hon. Obeng noted that while every Ghanaian desires a better country, few are willing to support the difficult actions required to achieve it. He highlighted that politicians often compromise on critical issues due to fear of losing votes, and that public servants who uphold the law sometimes face opposition even from within their own parties.

The MP specifically referenced the ORAL initiative, which seeks to reclaim lands from illegal developments, including constructions in waterways, green belts, and other protected zones, as well as lands acquired improperly by politicians. He stressed that these measures are part of a broader effort to ensure sustainable urban planning and are not politically motivated.

“No country can develop if leaders are afraid to do what is right,” Hon. Obeng said. “Development comes from courage, discipline, and leadership—not fear.”

He encouraged citizens to support initiatives that uphold the law and promote sustainable development, stressing that nation-building and long-term growth must take precedence over short-term political interests.
