
One person has died and 16 others have sustained injuries after a road crash at Peki Tsame near Mawutor Inn on the Peki–Asikuma highway in the Volta Region.
The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number GT 7012-24. Reports indicate the vehicle suffered a rear tyre burst while in motion, causing the driver to lose control. The bus subsequently somersaulted, leaving several passengers trapped.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, personnel from the Peki Fire Station, led by Assistant Divisional Officer Grade I Godwin Gbedemah, responded quickly after receiving a distress call. Fire officers carried out rescue operations and safely extricated victims from the wreckage.
The injured, made up of eight males, seven females and one child, were handed over to the National Ambulance Service for onward transport to the Peki Government Hospital for medical care.
Authorities say one of the victims later died at the hospital. The remaining injured passengers are reported to be in stable condition and receiving treatment.
Investigations are expected to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
