
The Vice President of Ghana, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, joined the people of the Sokpoe Traditional Area in the South Tongu District to celebrate the 40th edition of the Tortsogbeza Festival.
Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people, the Vice President conveyed warm greetings on behalf of John Dramani Mahama and commended the Traditional Council, chiefs and elders for their leadership, unity and commitment to the development of the area.
She noted that the Tortsogbeza Festival remains a significant platform for promoting cultural heritage, strengthening communal identity and driving collective progress, particularly within a district that serves as a key gateway to the Volta Region.
The Vice President acknowledged pressing concerns facing the community, including recovery efforts following the 2023 floods, challenges with road infrastructure and the need for logistical support for traditional authorities.

Reaffirming government’s commitment to addressing these issues, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured residents that critical sectors such as road development and healthcare delivery would receive the necessary attention. She also commended ongoing efforts aimed at improving health facilities in the area.
She further called for unity and collaboration among residents, traditional leaders and stakeholders, stressing that sustainable development can best be achieved through a shared sense of purpose.

The Vice President also appealed for patience, noting that government remains focused on advancing its broader infrastructure agenda to improve the living conditions of citizens across the country.
The 40th Tortsogbeza Festival brought together chiefs, opinion leaders, residents and visitors, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Sokpoe Traditional Area while serving as a platform to discuss development priorities.
