
Accra, Ghana – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that the parliamentary primary for the Ayawaso East Constituency will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026. The election will select a candidate to replace Mahama Naser Toure, who passed away on January 4, 2026, after a brief illness.
The announcement was made in a press release dated January 20 and signed by the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey.
According to the release, nomination forms for prospective candidates can be obtained from the party’s Greater Accra Regional Office, where completed forms must also be submitted.
The release also noted that the official delegates list will be made available to aspirants after verification of payment of the approved filing fee into the party’s official account.

Filing Fees and Concessions:
- Nomination form: GHS 5,000
- Filing fee: GHS 40,000
Female aspirants and Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) will benefit from a 50% reduction on the filing fee, in line with the party’s inclusivity policy.
The NDC urged the general public, party members, and prospective candidates to adhere to the outlined arrangements as the party prepares for the by-election.
