Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has revealed findings from his latest opinion poll indicating a widening political gap between the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to the survey, the NDC currently commands 45 percent support, while the NPP trails at 25 percent, suggesting a significant shift in voter sentiment, particularly among young voters.

Speaking on the AdweneKasa talk show hosted by Kwaku Owusu Adjei Pato, Dankwah explained that the data points to a growing alignment between the youth and the NDC. He noted that many young people now openly identify with the NDC and appear more confident associating with the party than in previous years.

He further indicated that a number of young voters believe more opportunities emerge when the NDC is in power, a perception he said the NPP has yet to establish strongly among the youth.

Reacting to the poll findings, Mahdi Gibrill, Acting Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, explained how the polling figures were calculated and commended digital content creators for projecting the NDC in ways that resonate with younger audiences.

He emphasized that social media engagement and youth-focused messaging have helped reshape the party’s image, making it more appealing and accessible to young voters. He added that many young people are now more confident engaging in political discussions and openly expressing their political affiliation.

The discussion also highlighted the growing influence of digital media in Ghana’s political landscape. Panelists noted that political communication is increasingly shifting online, where messaging, branding, and youth engagement are playing a major role in shaping public opinion and voter preferences.

Observers say the trend suggests that youth participation, digital campaigning, and political messaging will play a major role in future elections as political parties intensify efforts to win the confidence of Ghana’s growing youth population.
