President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to work collectively towards building a country defined by opportunity, integrity, and dignity as the nation steps into 2026.
In his New Year message to the nation, President Mahama outlined a vision of a Ghana where every child is free to dream and succeed, hard work is fairly rewarded, merit is upheld, and corruption is firmly dealt with. He stressed that young people should not feel compelled to risk their lives in search of opportunities abroad, insisting that meaningful prospects must be created at home.
The President also reaffirmed his commitment to social protection, saying senior citizens deserve to live with dignity, the sick must receive proper care, and vulnerable groups should be safeguarded.

Looking beyond Ghana’s borders, Mahama said he envisions a nation respected globally for its democratic values, economic strength, and the character of its people. He described this vision as a Ghana that is “a light unto Africa and a beacon unto the world.”
“This is not wishful thinking. This is the Ghana we are building together. This is the Ghana that is within our reach,” the President said, calling on citizens to unite and play their part in realizing the country’s full potential.
