A final year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ransford Asomani Amankwaa, has died under circumstances that authorities say are currently under investigation.
According to the deceased student’s father, Mr. Enoch Budu Amankwaa, he received a call from school authorities in the early hours of the day informing him that his son had allegedly fallen from his hostel and died.
Mr. Amankwaa has, however, questioned the circumstances surrounding the incident and says he suspects foul play. He is calling for a thorough and transparent investigation to determine what exactly happened.
The case has been reported to the police, who have begun inquiries to establish the cause of death. No official findings have yet been released.
The incident has sparked renewed public discussion about student safety on university campuses, particularly at KNUST, where past cases of student deaths have drawn concern.
University authorities are yet to issue a detailed statement on the incident.
