The government has revoked 541 public sector appointments made after the December 7, 2024 general elections, following a comprehensive review ordered during the transition period.
The review, conducted by a Special Committee established by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, examined a total of 2,080 appointments that were initially questioned over concerns that due recruitment procedures may not have been followed under the administration of Nana Akufo-Addo.
According to the committee’s findings, 1,201 of the appointments were upheld after being deemed compliant with established civil service processes. Additionally, 338 appointments involving persons with disabilities were maintained, with the panel concluding that they satisfied all required procedures.
The review formed part of efforts by the new administration to assess recruitments carried out during the transition period after the 2024 elections.
Speaking on the outcome, Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the exercise was not politically driven. He emphasized that the objective was to reinforce due process, accountability, and good governance within the public service.
The government maintains that the review was necessary to safeguard institutional integrity while ensuring fairness in public sector recruitment.
