GNFS Confines Kantamanto Tazani Lane Fire in Accra

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully confined a major fire that broke out at Kantamanto Tazani Lane near Ecobank in Accra in the early hours of Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

According to the GNFS, a distress call was received at 1:31 a.m., and the first fire engine arrived at the scene at 1:42 a.m. Seven fire engines and a Turntable Ladder were deployed from Circle, Industrial Area, Accra Regional Headquarters, Madina, and Legon fire stations, along with two additional appliances from the National Headquarters, to battle the blaze.

After intense firefighting efforts, the fire affected several commercial structures and was finally confined at 4:49 a.m.

Acting Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong visited the scene to assess the situation and gather first-hand information. She was joined by the Director of Operations, the Greater Accra Regional Commander, and other senior officers who provided operational support.

So far, no injuries have been reported, and personnel remain on-site to ensure the area is completely safe.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined as investigations continue.
