The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Margaret Ansei, has terminated the appointments of all 218 district coordinators across the country, triggering complaints from affected officers who say they were not officially informed.
Citi News has reviewed three internal memos issued by the agency between August and December 2025. The first memo, dated August 27, reminded coordinators that their contracts were renewed annually and that their performance was under review.
A second memo, dated October 27, informed the officers that their contracts under the BIZBOX project had officially ended on August 31. It added that the decision on possible renewals was still being considered.
However, a third memo issued on December 3 directed regional managers of Business Advisory Centers and Business Resource Centers to ensure that all “outgone district coordinators cease coming to work with immediate effect.” It also instructed managers to support the newly recruited coordinators who are replacing them.

Despite these directives, several district coordinators say they have still not received any formal communication ending their employment. One coordinator, who spoke anonymously, said the decision came as a shock.
“All correspondences we received from management never suggested that our appointment had been terminated, so we were taken completely by surprise,” the source said.
The coordinator also claimed that replacements were interviewed and hired without their knowledge. “It is as if we are not Ghanaians who deserve to be employed too. Some of us are now going back to the pool of unemployed graduates,” the officer said, adding that they stayed jobless for years before finally being employed in 2023.
The affected staff also say their November salaries remain unpaid despite reporting to work. “Our November salaries are in arrears. We still reported because we received no instruction to stop working,” the coordinator added.
The GEA is yet to publicly comment on the matter.
