Girls and young women in Nima, Maamobi, and New Town will receive free sanitary pads this Friday, November 28, 2025, as part of an outreach programme promoting menstrual health and education. The distribution will take place from 3:00 pm at the Nima Clinic, Maamobi General Hospital, and nearby communities.
For many girls, access to sanitary products remains a daily struggle. The lack of affordable menstrual hygiene items often affects school attendance, confidence, and overall wellbeing. The initiative aims to reduce these barriers and provide reassurance for those who need support.
The effort is being led by Amirah Issah, Founder and CEO of Vend Luxe – UK, who says she is driven by a desire to give back to Ghanaian communities.
“No girl should miss school or feel ashamed because she cannot afford sanitary products,” she said. “This is my way of supporting the communities that helped shape who I am.”
Vend Luxe – UK has supported similar humanitarian and empowerment projects in other parts of the world. For this programme, the company is working with the Mayor of Nima to ensure the pads reach those most affected by period poverty.
Local authorities say menstrual health remains a key part of improving the wellbeing of young women and are urging community members to participate actively in such initiatives.

Organisers believe Friday’s event will offer immediate relief while helping strengthen long-term health and educational outcomes for beneficiaries.
Residents are encouraged to visit the designated distribution points at 3:00 pm to take part in the programme.
