The First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, has commissioned the newly renovated Anyima Health Centre, a facility expected to improve access to quality healthcare for residents in the area and nearby communities.
The commissioning, held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, unveiled a modern mother and child healthcare facility designed to support maternal and infant care in Anyima and its surrounding settlements.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs Mahama said the project forms part of the work of the Lordina Foundation, which continues to invest in health infrastructure across the country to expand access to quality medical services.

She explained that the Anyima project is the sixth health facility built or renovated by the foundation nationwide, following similar initiatives in Bole, Nkoranza South, Bodom, Asukawkaw and the Adabraka Health Centre at Hohoe Zongo.
Mrs Mahama noted that the project holds personal meaning for her because of her family connection to the area.
“Today’s commissioning holds a special place in my heart because this is my home area. Jema-Ampoma nearby is where my late mother, Abena Gyamfua, comes from,” she said.
The First Lady also revealed that the facility will benefit from the government’s upcoming primary healthcare initiative being introduced by President John Dramani Mahama.

According to her, the new Primary Health Care Programme will provide free medical services at facilities such as the Anyima Health Centre, with the aim of encouraging early disease detection, improving healthcare utilisation and reducing medical expenses for families.
The renovated centre now includes an Out-Patient Department, consulting and examination rooms, delivery and labour wards, children’s ward, male and female wards, an adolescent centre, laboratory, dispensary and an emergency unit.
It is also equipped with modern medical equipment including an infant incubator, ultrasound machine, electrocardiogram (ECG) machine and neonatal care equipment.
Mrs Mahama emphasised that the foundation’s health projects are meant to save lives and strengthen healthcare delivery in underserved communities.
“These buildings the Lordina Foundation is constructing are not merely structures; they are lifesavers,” she stated, urging health workers to treat patients with dignity and compassion while encouraging the community to maintain the facility.
The upgraded Anyima Health Centre is expected to serve more than 3,000 residents in Anyima, Amoma, Apesika, Jema, Kranbenko and other nearby communities, significantly improving access to healthcare services, particularly for mothers and children.
