A fire on Tuesday morning gutted a boys’ dormitory at Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School, leaving several students fainting as they tried to salvage their belongings.
The fire which, instigatoronline.com gathers, started around 9 am, quickly destroyed the affected room and its roofing structure.
By the time the flames were brought under control, everything in the dormitory had been lost.
Efforts by the Ghana National Fire Service to control the fire were hampered by the lack of a functioning fire tender in the Kadjebi district, forcing firefighters to rely on limited alternative methods.
The incident triggered panic among students, with dozens reportedly collapsing from exhaustion and anxiety as they attempted to rescue personal items from nearby rooms.
School authorities and community members assisted in stabilising the affected students, who have since received care.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
