The Nokoyedzen-Larteiman Mantse, Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and relevant state authorities to urgently intervene in a protracted land dispute that has stalled the construction of a government school in the Nokoyedzen-Larteiman community.

In a press release issued on April 12, 2026, the chief expressed concern over what he described as unlawful encroachment on land designated for the project, warning that the situation is jeopardizing the education and safety of children in the area.

He commended the Municipal Chief Executive for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Philibert Serlom Fummey, for his commitment to development, but lamented that the actions of the Chief of Chinto and some members of the Nokoyedzen-Lartei family were undermining progress.

According to the statement, the land in question was lawfully allocated to the Assembly by the head and lawful representative of the Nokoyedzen-Lartei family, Hon. Ishmael Tetteh Aryeetey, in collaboration with the Mantse’s office. However, the alleged encroachment has brought the school project to a standstill.

Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II warned that the delay is forcing schoolchildren to cross the busy Accra–Kumasi highway daily to attend classes in Afutu Township, exposing them to significant danger.
He has therefore called on the government, particularly the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General as well as the Ministry of Education, to take urgent steps to resolve the impasse.

The Mantse further urged the Judicial Service of Ghana and the Nsawam High Court to expedite the hearing of land-related cases in the municipality to prevent development projects from being derailed.
“The future of our children and the development of Nokoyedzen-Larteiman must not be held hostage by protracted land disputes and acts of self-interest,” the statement emphasized.
