Several people have been trapped after an old school building collapsed near the Experimental Junior High School at Accra Newtown on Sunday, March 29.
The structure, which had reportedly been converted into a makeshift church, collapsed while a group of worshippers were holding a Sunday service inside the building.

The incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m., causing panic in the area as residents rushed to the scene to assist with rescue efforts. Eyewitnesses said the building suddenly gave way while the congregation was inside, trapping several people under the rubble.
Emergency responders, together with local residents, are currently working to rescue those trapped beneath the debris. Some victims have reportedly been pulled out, but the full extent of injuries or possible casualties is yet to be confirmed.

Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into the cause of the collapse, as concerns continue to grow over building safety and structural integrity in parts of the capital.
