Tema Aircraft Crash: TMA Daycare Shuts Down After Fatal Incident

All academic activities at the TMA Daycare in Tema have been suspended following a fatal aircraft crash on the school’s premises, as authorities begin investigations into the incident.

The crash occurred on Monday, March 16, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. at Community 1, when a microlight aircraft with registration number 9G-ADV went down within the daycare compound.

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the aircraft was travelling from Ho to Accra at the time of the incident.

Emergency response teams from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived promptly at the scene and managed to put out the fire after the aircraft burst into flames.

Two bodies were retrieved from the wreckage and have since been conveyed to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department, together with officials from the Civil Aviation Authority, are currently at the site clearing debris and securing the area.

Authorities say preliminary investigations are underway, as they work to establish the circumstances and possible cause of the crash.
