On the sidelines of the Investing in Africa Mining Indaba 2026, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), held a strategic meeting with the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Mr. Samaila Zubairu, to deepen collaboration in Ghana’s mineral sector and mobilise long-term capital for Africa’s mineral development.

Discussions focused on accelerating priority investments in bauxite, gold and iron ore, with particular emphasis on value addition, project structuring, financing solutions and the de-risking of large-scale mineral projects. Hon. Buah outlined Ghana’s industrialisation agenda and underscored the need for closer alignment between policy, infrastructure development and financing to maximise value from the country’s mineral resources.

The engagement also examined opportunities for broader continental cooperation. Hon. Buah proposed the joint hosting of a ministerial-level convening in Ghana to promote policy harmonisation, strengthen cross-border collaboration and advance a coordinated African strategy for mineral development. The proposed forum would bring together African ministers, development finance institutions and strategic partners to align policies and mobilise capital in support of sustainable and integrated mineral value chains across the continent.
