The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather alert, cautioning that thunderstorms and rain are expected later today across Accra, Kasoa and several communities in the Ashanti Region.

GMet’s 24-hour forecast released Thursday morning listed Accra, Kasoa, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim and Sefwi Bekwai among areas likely to experience unstable weather conditions.

Earlier this morning, mist and fog patches formed over coastal, forest and hilly zones, reducing visibility for motorists. The agency advised commuters to exercise caution while driving.

Weather conditions are expected to turn sunny across the country by mid-morning. However, thunderstorms and rainfall are forecast to develop in the afternoon and may continue into the evening, especially along the coast and in the middle sector.

Northern Ghana will remain mostly dry with slightly hazy skies, while nighttime and early-morning temperatures in the upper regions are expected to stay cool. Sea conditions will remain rough, according to GMet.

Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions throughout the day.
